Softball Recap: Montcalm Takes a Loss

Montcalm extended their losing streak to five on Thursday, dropping their season record down to 1-7 in the process. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 6-5 heartbreaker at the hands of the Van Bulldogs. If the Generals were looking for revenge after losing 12-8 to the Bulldogs when the teams met back in April of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

As for Van, their win ended a nine-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 3-12. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory they have posted since April 15, 2024.

For Van's part, Montcalm's batters probably weren't too happy with Layla Albright, who pitched a no hitter and racked up nine Ks (she gave up nine walks).

On the hitting side, Van secured the win behind a pair of hitters. One of them was Hailey Tackett, who went 1-for-2 with two RBI.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Montcalm beat the Bulldogs by a score of 10-6 later that day.
