Softball Recap: Waterloo's Victory on Thursday Extends Winning Streak to 11

Waterloo came out on top against Waltonville on Thursday thanks in part to the team's impressive four-run fourth inning. The Bulldogs blew past the Spartans 7-1. Winning may never get old, but the Bulldogs sure are getting used to it with their 11th in a row.

Sam Juelfs spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered a run (which was unearned) on four hits.

On the hitting side, Claire Parker was excellent, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. Those two RBI gave her a new career-high.

Waterloo's win was their sixth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 17-2. The road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.2 runs over those games. As for Waltonville, their defeat ended an 11-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 23-9.

Looking ahead, Waterloo will host Mascoutah at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. The Bulldogs' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Indians have averaged an impressive 8.6 runs per game this season. As for Waltonville, they will head out on the road to square off against Red Hill at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. The Salukis have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 11.92 runs per game on average), something the Spartans will no doubt try to take advantage of.
