Softball Recap: Tappan Zee Dutchmen vs. Nyack Red Hawks

After a string of nine wins, Tappan Zee's good fortune finally ran out on Wednesday. They fell just short of the Nyack Red Hawks by a score of 4-2. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest runs Tappan Zee has scored all season.

For Nyack's part, Gianna Longo was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out eight batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off three hits (and only one walk). Longo has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in 12 consecutive pitching appearances. Longo was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with a home run and three RBI.
