Basketball Game Preview: Lourdes Catholic Warriors vs. Valley Union Blue Devils

Lourdes Catholic hasn't had much luck against Valley Union recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Lourdes Catholic Warriors will challenge the Valley Union Blue Devils at 5:30 p.m. Given that both suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this contest.

Lourdes Catholic is headed into Thursday's matchup looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their third straight game back in December of 2024. They took a hard 25-6 fall against San Simon. The Warriors were down 23-0 at the end of the third quarter, which was just too much to recover from.

Meanwhile, Valley Union was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap on Monday as they fell 34-28 to Duncan. While losing is never fun, the Blue Devils can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Arizona basketball rankings (they are ranked 236th, while the Wildkats are ranked 116th).

Lourdes Catholic's defeat dropped their record down to 0-3. As for Valley Union, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost six of their last seven games, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-7 record this season.

Lourdes Catholic was dealt a bruising 79-9 loss at the hands of Valley Union when the teams last played back in January of 2022. That contest was all but decided by halftime, at which point Lourdes Catholic was down 45-6.
