The Mountain View Lobos will take on the Gadsden Panthers at 2:00 p.m. on Friday. Mountain View is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 12 runs per game this season.
Mountain View had been on a three-game streak of scoring at least ten runs, but Santa Teresa put an end to it on Thursday. The Lobos came up short against the Desert Warriors, falling 11-1. The Lobos haven't had much luck with the Desert Warriors recently, as the team has come up short the last five times they've met.
Esteban Garcia was cooking despite his team's loss, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one triple, one run, and one double.
Meanwhile, after only one run in their last contest, Gadsden made sure to put some runs up on the board against Austin on Thursday. Gadsden was the clear victor by an 18-1 margin over Austin. The win made it back-to-back victories for Gadsden.
Fabian Gomez Jr. made a splash while hitting and pitching. He struck out eight batters over three innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. Gomez Jr. was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one triple, two RBI, and one double.
In other batting news, Aiden Dominguez and Dom Hernandez did most of the damage at the plate: Dominguez went 3-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI, while Hernandez went 3-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. Another player making a difference was Antonio Castillo, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.
Gadsden always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .697. The last time their OBP was this high was was before the start of last season.
Having lost for the first time this season, Mountain View fell to 3-1. As for Gadsden, their victory bumped their record up to 2-0.
