Basketball Recap: Kato Muhammad's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Wake Prep Academy over Wakefield

Wake Prep Academy fought the good fight in their overtime game against Wakefield on Saturday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They took a 67-62 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Wolverines. The Guardians lost against the Wolverines in their previous head to head back in December of 2023, too, but the margin this time around was much closer than the 102-45 score last time.

Several Guardians players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Kato Muhammad, who posted ten points. Shawn Amadike was another key player, putting up nine points.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Wakefield to victory, but perhaps none more so than Zih'Kee Dickerson, who scored 22 points and three steals. Another player making a difference was Amir Lewis, who dropped a double-double with ten points and 16 rebounds.

This is the second loss in a row for Wake Prep Academy and nudges their season record down to 4-2. As for Wakefield, their win ended a five-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 3-2.

Wake Prep Academy has already played their next matchup (against Discovery Charter School), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. As for Wakefield, they will venture away from home to challenge Leesville Road at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. The Wolverines will need to watch out since the Pride have now posted at least 55 points every time they've taken the court this season.
