Softball Recap: Oskaloosa Picks Up Third Consecutive Victory

Oskaloosa entered their tilt with Atchison County on Thursday with two consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with three. They were the clear victors by a 19-2 margin over the Tigers. The result was nothing new for the Bears, who have now won four matchups by ten runs or more so far this season.

Harper Heston was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she tossed three innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off two hits. Heston was also solid in the batter's box, scoring three runs while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances.

In other batting news, Parris Marsh was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, five RBI, and three runs. That home run marked the first that she launched this season. Another player making a difference was Maddie Farmer, who scored two runs and stole two bases while going 1-for-2.

Oskaloosa always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .741. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their OBP total in three consecutive games.

Oskaloosa's win bumped their record up to 5-1. As for Atchison County, they are on a 15-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-6.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Oskaloosa will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against Troy at 4:30 p.m. on the 14th. As for Atchison County, they will head out to take on Rock Creek at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.
