Football Recap: West Warwick Falls Short Against Ranked East Providence

West Warwick faced East Providence in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Friday. The Wizards fell 32-28 to the Townies. The Wizards were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Townies apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in September of 2024.

Despite the loss, West Warwick still got an impressive performance from Nathan Corona, who rushed for 40 yards and three touchdowns.

Jacob Duarte went supernova For East Providence., rushing for 176 yards and three TDs on only 11 carries, while also throwing for 12 yards and one touchdown. Those three rushing touchdowns gave Duarte a new career-high. Aithan Vasquez helped out on the ground, rushing for 84 yards.

This is the second loss in a row for West Warwick and nudges their season record down to 0-2. As for East Providence, the win got them back to even at 1-1.

West Warwick wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next matchup, a 47-14 victory against Tolman on the 19th. As for East Providence, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 55-13 loss against Westerly on the 19th.
