Soccer Game Preview: Edgewood vs. Pomona

The Edgewood Lions will face off against the Pomona Red Devils at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Neither squad made it on the board the last time they hit the pitch, so they've probably got a bit of extra motivation.

Pomona is facing Edgewood at the wrong time: Edgewood suffered their first home loss of the season on Thursday and they're likely out for redemption. They fell just short of the Olympians by a score of 2-1. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as the Lions came into the contest with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 155th, while the Olympians are ranked 448th).

Meanwhile, Pomona fell victim to La Puente and their airtight defense on Thursday. They came up short against the Warriors, falling 6-0. The Red Devils haven't had much luck with the Warriors recently, as the team's come up short the last five times they've met.

Pomona's loss dropped their record down to 3-14-1. As for Edgewood, their defeat was their first of the season and makes their record 10-1-2.

Edgewood beat Pomona by a goal when the teams last played on January 9th, winning 1-0. Does Edgewood have another victory up their sleeve, or will Pomona turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
