Baseball Recap: Monroe Takes a Loss

Monroe fought the good fight in their extra-innings game against Bedford on Monday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Kicking Mules by a score of 7-6. The Trojans have struggled against the Kicking Mules recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive lost matchup.

Carson Liedel made the most of his time in the batter's box despite the final result and got on base in three of his six plate appearances with one home run, one stolen base, and two RBI. He is becoming a predictor of Monroe's success: when he posts at least one home run the team is 5-2 (and 4-11 when he doesn't).

Monroe's defeat dropped their record down to 9-13. As for Bedford, they moved to 11-5 with that win, which also ended their three-game losing streak.

While Monroe had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair will be back at it again later today.
