Basketball Game Preview: Lakeland Christian Academy Cougars vs. Lakeland Lakers

The Lakeland Christian Academy Cougars are taking a road trip to challenge the Lakeland Lakers at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.

Lakeland Christian Academy is probably headed into the match with a chip on their shoulder considering DeMotte Christian just ended the team's six-game winning streak on Saturday. They lost 45-25 to the Knights. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat the Cougars have suffered since November 19, 2024.

Despite the loss, Lakeland Christian Academy had strong showings from Olivia Hawks, who posted four points and six rebounds, and Katie Reimink, who put up ten points in addition to five rebounds and three steals. Reimink is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last six games she's played.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Lakeland). They blew past Heritage, posting a 70-27 victory. Perhaps unsurprisingly given the team's high-flying offense, the game also marked the team's biggest win of the season.

Lakeland Christian Academy better keep an eye on Zoey Bowman. She was instrumental in Lakeland's win, dropping a double-double on 23 points and ten boards. What's more, Bowman also racked up six steals, the most she's had since back in January of 2024. Mckenzie Carlson was another key player, going 5 of 11 on her way to 13 points along with five assists and three steals.

Lakeland Christian Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 9-5. As for Lakeland, with the victory, they broke their three-game losing streak and moved their record to 4-10.
