Winters took a nine-run loss the last time they faced off against East Nicolaus, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Warriors narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past the Spartans 3-2. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Warriors have posted since March 17th.

Ava Estepa spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on ten hits.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Riley Nelson, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with one run and one RBI.

Winters has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-12 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.3 runs over those games. Having lost for the first time this season, East Nicolaus fell to 13-1.

We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Winters will take on rival Durham at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, East Nicolaus is set to face off against their familiar foe Paradise at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
