Basketball Recap: Heze Kent Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat South Paulding

It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Brunswick had no problem doing just that on Wednesday. They put the hurt on the South Paulding Spartans with a sharp 69-49 victory. The Pirates have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 11 contests by 20 points or more this season.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Brunswick to victory, but perhaps none more so than Heze Kent, who dropped a double-double with 16 points and 20 rebounds. Kent is on a roll when it comes to boards, as he's now pulled down eight or more in each of the last 17 games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Caleb Butler, who dropped a double-double with 13 points and ten rebounds.

Brunswick smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 22 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 13 offensive boards in eight consecutive matchups.

Brunswick's win bumped their record up to 22-4. As for South Paulding, their defeat was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 19-10.

Coming up, Brunswick will square off against Habersham Central at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday. Habersham Central knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past 16 games -- so hopefully Brunswick likes a good challenge. South Paulding does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
