Basketball Recap: Luke Blackford Key Part of a Team Effort in Saints Win

There's no place like home for Calvary, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Monday. They strolled past the South County Vipers with points to spare on Friday, taking the game 71-53. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Saints also won the last time the pair played back in January of 2024.

Calvary's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Luke Blackford led the charge by going 9 of 15 en route to 24 points along with eight rebounds and five assists. Blackford has been hot for a while, having posted 19 or more points the last 12 times he's played. Reese Huffman was another key player, going 5 for 10 on his way to 15 points in addition to six boards and five assists.

Calvary smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with ten offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive rebounds in ten consecutive matchups.

Calvary has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a nice bump to their 14-7 record this season. As for South County, they now have a losing record at 10-11.
