Preview: Eustace Bulldogs vs. Malakoff Tigers
Eustace is 0-9 against Malakoff since November of 2014 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Eustace Bulldogs will head out on the road to face off against the Malakoff Tigers at 7:00 p.m. The squads are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Eustace has struggled recently with 14 losses in a row, while Malakoff will arrive with seven straight wins.
It's never fun to lose, and it's even less fun to lose 52-7, which was the final score in Eustace's tilt against Teague two Fridays ago. While losing is never fun, Eustace can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 1068th, while Teague is ranked 427th).
Meanwhile, Malakoff got themselves on the board against Teague on Friday, but Teague never followed suit. They took their match on the road with ease, bagging a 35-0 win over the Lions.
Malakoff's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Mike Jones, who rushed for 53 yards and a touchdown, and also threw for 187 yards and a touchdown. Chauncey Hogg was in the mix too, providing Malakoff with two touchdowns.
Malakoff's victory bumped their season record to 7-0 while Eustace's defeat dropped theirs to 0-6.
Eustace took a serious blow against Malakoff in their previous meeting back in October of 2022, falling 77-0. Can Eustace avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
