Basketball Recap: Roeper Comes Up Short

Roeper was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. They came up short against the Parkway Christian Eagles, falling 55-35. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat the Roughriders have suffered against the Eagles since January 10, 2020.

Parkway Christian found their leader in sophomore Angelina Marchesi, who dropped a double-double on 20 points and 20 rebounds. Marchesi is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last 25 games she's played dating back to last season. Another player making a difference was Tamerah Peterson, who posted 19 points and three steals.

Roeper's loss dropped their record down to 3-8. As for Parkway Christian, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 5-8.

Roeper and Parkway Christian could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps Michigan Rankings. Roeper will face off against Lutheran Northwest at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday down 370 places (536 vs. 166). Meanwhile, Parkway Christian (ranked 546th) will meet Lutheran (ranked 234th) at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday.
