Seymour came out on top against Southwestern on Thursday thanks in part to the team's impressive 11-run fourth inning. The Owls blew past the Rebels 16-2. The result was nothing new for the Owls, who have now won seven games by ten runs or more so far this season.

Braden Richey made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out 14 batters over five innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off two hits (and only one walk). He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in five consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in all three of his plate appearances with one double.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Mikey Wright, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and two doubles. Jackson Trueblood was another key player, going 1-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

Seymour always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .538. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Southwestern only posted an OBP of .263.

The win was the third in a row for Seymour, bringing their record up to 17-6. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.7 runs over those games. As for Southwestern, their loss ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 16-8.

Coming up, Seymour will welcome Shelbyville at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Owls 3.2, the Golden Bears 4) so any runs scored will be well earned. As for Southwestern, they will square off against Brownstown Central at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
