Softball Game Preview: Pine River-Backus Tigers vs. Lake of the Woods Bears

The Pine River-Backus Tigers will face off against the Lake of the Woods Bears at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.

Wednesday just wasn't the day for Pine River-Backus' offense. They took a 3-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of Bagley on Wednesday.

Meanwhile, Lake of the Woods waltzed into their game on Tuesday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 9-8 W against the Wildcats. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Bears have posted since May 2, 2024.

Lake of the Woods pushed their record up to 3-3 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.0 runs over those games. As for Pine River-Backus, they now have a losing record of 5-6.

Pine River-Backus took their victory against Lake of the Woods in their previous meeting back in May of 2024 by a conclusive 15-6 score. Do the Tigers have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Bears turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
