Football Recap: Cedar Starts Season with Win at Home

Cedar took care of business in their home opener (and then some) on Friday. They took their match with ease, bagging a 51-14 win over the Bear River Bears. The contest was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 30-7.

Cedar got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Slade Parsons out in front who picked up 151 receiving yards and a pair of touchdowns, and also punched in one score on the ground. Parsons was no stranger to the big play, cutting upfield on a catch that went for 50 yards. Another back making a difference was Braxton Demille, who rushed for 153 yards and three TDs.

Cedar's run defense was locked in: Bear River could only muster 3.3 yards per carry. The team can thank Dax Wankier for the heroic effort on defense: he. Cedar didn't have any issues in that department, having averaged 5.9.

Cedar's defense didn't let the opposing QB, get away unscathed either: they got into the backfield for three sacks. Wankier refused to say out of the backfield, picking up 1.5 sacks all by himself.

Cedar didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 50-34 win against Pine View on the 22nd. As for Bear River, they have also already played their next match, a 77-0 victory against Cottonwood on the 22nd.
