Soccer Game Preview: Rivera vs. Donna

The Rivera Raiders will take on the Donna Redskins at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this match.

Rivera is probably headed into the matchup with a chip on their shoulder considering Lopez just ended the team's three-match winning streak on Tuesday. They fell just short of the Lobos by a score of 3-2. While losing is never fun, Rivera can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas soccer rankings (they are ranked 153rd, while Lopez are ranked second).

For whatever reason, it's the away team that's had the advantage when Donna and Donna North meet (four straight games heading into this one) and that held true again on Tuesday. The Redskins lost 5-0 to the Chiefs.

Rivera's defeat was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 5-2. As for Donna, their loss dropped their record down to 1-5.

Everything went Rivera's way against Donna in their previous matchup back in February of 2025, as Rivera made off with a 4-0 victory. Do the Raiders have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Redskins turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
