Football Game Preview: Cornerstone Christian Eagles vs. Alabama School for the Deaf Silent Warriors

The Cornerstone Christian Eagles will venture away from home to face off against the Alabama School for the Deaf Silent Warriors at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Cornerstone Christian knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 31 points or more in their past four games -- so hopefully Alabama School for the Deaf likes a good challenge.

Cornerstone Christian is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Alabama's top teams: Jacksonville Christian Academy, who was ranked 13th at the time (Cornerstone Christian was ranked 17th). The Eagles fell 46-41 to the Thunder on Friday. The Eagles have struggled against the Thunder recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive lost matchup.

Despite the loss, Cornerstone Christian had strong showings from Colby Harrison, who rushed for 196 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 10.9 yards per carry, and Jess Nelson, who rushed for 175 yards and three TDs while picking up 10.9 yards per carry. With that strong performance, Harrison is now averaging an impressive 112.8 rushing yards per game.

Cornerstone Christian didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Copeland Puckett and Brody Barksdale. Barksdale has been hot for a while, having also posted five or more total tackles the last nine times he's played.

Meanwhile, after only 12 points in their last matchup, Alabama School for the Deaf made sure to put some points up on the board against South Carolina School for the Deaf & Blind on Saturday. The Silent Warriors blew past the Hornets 38-6. The Silent Warriors haven't had any issues with the Hornets recently, as the game was their third consecutive win against them.

Cornerstone Christian's defeat dropped their record down to 4-2. As for Alabama School for the Deaf, their victory bumped their record up to 2-4.
