Basketball Recap: Fort Myers Green Wave vs. Barron Collier Cougars

The Fort Myers Green Wave's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their fourth straight loss. They had to suffer through a rough 63-27 loss at the hands of Barron Collier. While losing is never fun, Fort Myers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 467th, while the Cougars are ranked 218th).

Barron Collier's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from PEYTON HEFFLEFINGER, who scored 25 points along with five rebounds and four steals. That makes it five consecutive games in which HEFFLEFINGER has scored at least a third of Barron Collier's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Rebecca Van't Hoff, who almost dropped a double-double on nine points and ten rebounds.

Fort Myers has been struggling recently as they've lost seven of their last eight matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-15 record this season. As for Barron Collier, their victory bumped their record up to 12-10.

Fort Myers will face off against the Seahawks at TBD on Monday. As for Barron Collier, they won't have much time to rest: their next match is against the Bobcats at 7:00 p.m. on February 2nd. North Port is out to stop a three-game streak of losses at home.
