Brebeuf Jesuit Preparatory came tearing into Saturday's matchup with six straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 4.5 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They came out on top against the Southport Cardinals by a score of 9-6. The Braves have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Cardinals, too.

Brebeuf Jesuit Preparatory got a great performance from Charlie Cotter as he tossed six innings while giving up four earned (and one unearned) runs off six hits. Cotter has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Nick Sobek was incredible, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Steven Neese was another key player, earning three runs and two stolen bases.

Brebeuf Jesuit Preparatory pushed their record up to 11-6 with the win, which was their fifth straight on the road. Those road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.4 runs over those games. As for Southport, their defeat dropped their record down to 11-7.

Brebeuf Jesuit Preparatory wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next contest, a 7-5 loss against Roncalli on the 12th. As for Southport, they will face off against Bloomington North at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Cougars' pitching crew has only allowed 3.6 runs per game this season, so the Cardinals' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
