Volleyball Game Preview: Tipton Blue Devils vs. Rossville Hornets

The Tipton Blue Devils will take on the Rossville Hornets at 7:00 p.m. on Monday.

On Saturday, Tipton didn't have quite enough to beat Western and fell 2-1. The loss continues a trend for the Blue Devils in their meetings with the Panthers: they've now lost four in a row.

The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Makayla Schinlaub, who had 15 digs and one assist.

Meanwhile, Rossville entered their tilt with Bethesda Christian on Friday with four consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with five. They were the clear victors by a 3-0 margin over the Patriots.

The 3-0 score doesn't show just how dominant Rossville was: they took every set by at least 11 points. The match finished with set scores of 25-9, 25-13, 25-14.

Tipton better focus on containing Cassie Schoon and Addy Gergely as the pair were huge in Rossville's win. Schoon had 12 digs and two aces, while Gergely had three digs and three aces. That's the most aces Gergely has posted since back in September.

Tipton's defeat dropped their record down to 9-14. As for Rossville, their victory bumped their record up to 21-2.

Here's a few offensive stats to keep an eye on ahead of Monday's matchup: Tipton has really dialed in their serving this season, having averaged 4.4 aces per game. However, it's not like Rossville struggles in that department as they've been averaging 8.9 aces. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
