East Greenwich faced Cranston East in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Friday. The Avengers walked away with a 3-1 win over the Thunderbolts. The victory continues a trend for the Avengers in their matchups with the Thunderbolts: they've now won six in a row.

East Greenwich had a slow start but a hot finish: after dropping the first set, they turned around to win the next three. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 20-25, 25-20, 25-23, 25-20.

East Greenwich found their leader in sophomore Sophia Hartman, who had 15 assists and four aces.

East Greenwich's win bumped their record up to 4-10. As for Cranston East, they are on a 24-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-8.

Coming up, East Greenwich will venture away from home to take on Chariho at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Cranston East does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
