Basketball Game Preview: Shelby-Rising City Huskies vs. Exeter-Milligan/Friend Bobcats

The Shelby-Rising City Huskies will take on the Exeter-Milligan/Friend Bobcats in a tournament on Friday.

Last Thursday, Shelby-Rising City had to suffer through a 68-39 loss at the hands of McCool Junction. The Huskies have struggled against the Mustangs recently, as the game was their third consecutive lost matchup.

Despite the defeat, Shelby-Rising City saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Nixon Thelen posted 15 points and six assists. Those six assists set a new season-high mark for Thelen. Dalton Pokorney was another key player, putting up five points along with seven rebounds and five blocks.

Even though they lost, Shelby-Rising City smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 14 offensive boards. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their offensive rebound total in three consecutive games.

Meanwhile, Exeter-Milligan/Friend put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their perfect season alive. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Lawrence-Nelson 70-21. Fans of the Bobcats have seen this all before: every one of the games they've played this season has ended in a blowout of 20+ points.

Shelby-Rising City's loss dropped their record down to 2-2. As for Exeter-Milligan/Friend, their win bumped their record up to 6-0.
