Baseball Game Preview: Hopkins Academy Golden Hawks vs. Easthampton/Hampshire Eagles

The Hopkins Academy Golden Hawks will take on the Easthampton/Hampshire Eagles at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday.

On Monday, Hopkins Academy didn't have quite enough to beat Ware and fell 3-1. The Golden Hawks have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Meanwhile, Easthampton/Hampshire came into Monday's match having lost five straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They never let South Hadley get on the board and left with a 3-0 victory on Monday.

Patrick Larson was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out eight over seven innings pitched. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in two of his three plate appearances with two stolen bases and one run.

Larson wasn't the only one making solid contact as three players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Jason Sigda, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one run. Sigda is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last seven games he's played. Another was Ethan Mullaly, who went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases and one run.

Hopkins Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 8-6. As for Easthampton/Hampshire, the win was their first at home , bumping their record up to 2-9.

Hopkins Academy was able to grind out a solid victory over Easthampton/Hampshire in their previous matchup on Thursday, winning 4-1. Do the Golden Hawks have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Eagles turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
