Baseball Recap: Mountain View Find Success

Mountain View's game last Thursday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Tuesday. They came out on top against the Maricopa Rams by a score of 9-5. For the Mountain Lions, this counts as revenge for the 5-2 win the Rams walked away with the last time they faced one another back in April of 2025.

Alex (Max) Ortega and Benjamin Cleveland did most of the damage at the plate: Ortega went 3-for-5 with three RBI, two doubles, and one stolen base, while Cleveland went 2-for-4 with one home run and one double. Those two doubles gave Ortega a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Jace Medford, who went 2-for-4 with two RBI and one run.

Mountain View hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. They are 3-1 when they post two or more strikeouts.

Mountain View's victory was their first in the region, bumping their region record up to 1-2 and their overall record up to 6-11-1. As for Maricopa, their record is now 5-11.

Mountain View will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Rams: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday.
