Baseball Recap: Escondido Charter Drops Highest Score of Season Against Tri-City Christian

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Escondido Charter). Everything went their way against the Tri-City Christian Eagles on Wednesday as Escondido Charter made off with a 35-2 victory. The Tigers have beaten the Eagles the last eight times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest the Eagles has come to flipping the script.

Liam McGinty made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching four innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances. He was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring five runs while going 5-for-6. Those five hits gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, Escondido Charter got a massive performance out of Matthew Hydar, who went 4-for-5 with one home run, five runs, and five RBI. That home run marked the first that Hydar launched this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Joey Seavello, who got on base in five of his eight plate appearances with six runs, six RBI, and one triple.

Escondido Charter always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .676. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Escondido Charter's win bumped their record up to 6-1. As for Tri-City Christian, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-3.
