Softball Recap: North Central Panthers vs. Ben Davis Giants
North Central extended their losing streak to seven on Wednesday, dropping their season record down to 5-13-1 in the process. They came up short against the Ben Davis Giants, falling 13-1. Having soared to a lofty ten runs in the game before, the Panthers couldn't push the score so high this time.
As for Ben Davis, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matches. That's provided a massive bump to their 11-10 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.4 runs over those games.
For Ben Davis' part, Riley Gilliland made a splash no matter where she played. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out 12 over five innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts Gilliland has posted since back in April. She was also big at the plate, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with one home run.
