Canon City took a 13-run loss the last time they faced off against Mesa Ridge, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Tigers had just enough and edged out the Grizzlies 4-3. For the Tigers, this counts as revenge for the 15-2 victory the Grizzlies walked away with the last time they faced one another back in April of 2024.

John Vendetti tossed a big game, striking out six batters over 5.1 innings while giving up three earned runs off seven hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Canon City let Peter Hershberger and Justin Loveless run wild. Hershberger went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI, while Loveless went 2-for-3 with three RBI. That's the most RBI Loveless has posted since back in March. Jake Bell was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one double.

Canon City now has a winning record of 7-6. As for Mesa Ridge, their defeat was their first in the league, dropping their league record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 5-9.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Canon City beat the Grizzlies by a score of 5-2 on Thursday.
