Basketball Recap: Champions Christian Academy Takes a Loss

Champions Christian Academy was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their 12th straight loss dating back to last season. They had to suffer through a 74-28 loss at the hands of the Families Instructing Students HomeSchool Hawks. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Hawks this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 60-12 back in January.

Champions Christian Academy's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Kurtis Colon, who posted 16 points, and Franco Montalvo, who earned six points.

It was another big night for Kalvin Kuhnke, who went 9-for-11 en route to 25 points and three steals for Families Instructing Students HomeSchool. The dominant performance also gave Kuhnke a new career-high in field goal percentage (82%). Sam Cushen was another key player, going 5-for-9 to rack up 14 points and five assists.

Champions Christian Academy's loss dropped their record down to 0-11. As for Families Instructing Students HomeSchool, the win (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 13-8.

Champions Christian Academy has already played their next matchup, a 56-38 defeat against Hifz Academy on the 10th. As for Families Instructing Students HomeSchool, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 63-48 victory against Geneva Classical Academy on the 6th.
