Volleyball Game Preview: Herscher Tigers vs. Clifton Central Comets

Herscher is a perfect 10-0 against Clifton Central since September of 2016 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Monday. The Tigers will be playing at home against the Comets at 7:00 p.m. The two teams have had a bumpy ride up to this point with four consecutive losses for Herscher and three for Clifton Central.

On Thursday, Herscher came up short against Peotone and fell 2-0.

The defeat didn't mean the game wasn't competitive: Peotone scored at least 17 points in every set. The final score came out to 25-17, 25-20.

Meanwhile, Clifton Central didn't have quite enough to beat Tri-Point on Thursday and fell 2-1. While the Comets didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Chargers 25-15 in the first set.

Clifton Central actually scored more points across those three sets (67-66), but sadly they still had to settle for second. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 15-25, 25-18, 26-24.

Herscher's loss dropped their record down to 4-16. As for Clifton Central, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-14.

Herscher was able to grind out a solid win over Clifton Central when the teams last played back in September of 2024, winning 2-0. Will the Tigers repeat their success, or do the Comets have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
