Volleyball Recap: Grove City Comes Up Short

Grove City lost against New Albany on September 9th and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The Greyhounds lost 3-0 to the Eagles. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss the Greyhounds have suffered against the Eagles since September 6, 2022.

Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-13, 25-19, 25-19.

Saphira Bailey paced Grove City's offense, picking up 14 kills. Bailey got some help from Lexi Chafins and her 15 assists. Bailey was also a major player on defense: she and she shared the team lead in blocks, finishing with two each.

New Albany's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Aline Bhat, who had 12 digs and five aces. Bhat is on a roll when it comes to digs, as she's now had ten or more in each of the last 20 games she's played dating back to last season. Jillian Welsh was another key player, getting seven digs and three aces.

Grove City's defeat dropped their record down to 4-13. As for New Albany, their win bumped their record up to 6-10.

Grove City didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 3-0 loss against Worthington Kilbourne on the 29th. As for New Albany, they have also already played their next contest, a 3-1 victory against Lincoln on the 30th.
