Basketball Recap: Apache Junction Comes Up Short

Apache Junction was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They took a 60-51 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Miami Vandals. That's two games in a row now that the Prospectors have lost by exactly nine points.

Despite the loss, Apache Junction still got an impressive performance from Biagio Castagnola, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and 13 boards. Those 13 points gave Castagnola a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of John Felix De Guzman, who posted eight points.

Apache Junction now has a losing record at 4-5. As for Miami, their record now sits at 4-1.

Apache Junction didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 69-21 loss against Palo Verde on the 10th. As for Miami, they will take on Alchesay at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Alchesay is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 61.5 points per game this season.
