Baseball Game Preview: Yonkers Bulldogs vs. Sleepy Hollow Horsemen

The Yonkers Bulldogs will face off against the Sleepy Hollow Horsemen at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday. Yonkers will be looking to extend their current six-game winning streak.

In Friday's Canine Competition, Yonkers came out on top. They walked away with a 9-4 victory over Gorton last Friday.

Davis Howell made a splash no matter where he played. He struck out eight batters over 3.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits (and not a single walk). Howell was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with four RBI, two doubles, and one stolen base.

In other batting news, Yonkers let Gio Bello and Bryan Toribio run wild. Bello got on base in three of his four plate appearances with three stolen bases, one run, and one RBI, while Toribio went 1-for-3 with three runs, one triple, and one stolen base. That triple marked the first that Toribio has hit this season.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Sleepy Hollow, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Saturday. Their pitchers stepped up to hand Gorton a 13-0 shutout on Wednesday. The Horsemen haven't had any issues with the Wolves recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive win against them.

Yonkers' victory was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 6-1. Those road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 4.0 runs on average over those games. As for Sleepy Hollow, they now have a winning record of 8-7.

Yonkers skirted past Sleepy Hollow 2-1 in their previous matchup back in April of 2017. Do the Bulldogs have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Horsemen turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
