Recap: South Side Rams vs. Western Beaver Golden Beavers
The South Side Rams have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won four matchups by 21 points or more this season. They were the clear victor by a 70-49 margin over Western Beaver. The win made it back-to-back wins for South Side.
Western Beaver's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Jon Backur, who scored 14 points, and Nathan Schwarz who scored nine points. The team also got some help courtesy of Carter Marshall, who scored seven points.
South Side's win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 6-5. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 75.0 points per game. As for Western Beaver, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-10.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. South Side will challenge Aliquippa at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Aliquippa presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than South Side in Pennsylvania (Aliquippa is ranked 71st, while South Side is ranked 462nd). Western Beaver's road trip will continue as they head out to face Avella at 7:30 p.m. on January 3, 2024. Avella knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past five matchups -- so hopefully Western Beaver likes a good challenge.
