Softball Recap: D.C. Everest Comes Up Short

D.C. Everest fought the good fight in their extra-innings contest against Neenah on Friday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Rockets by a score of 5-4. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Rockets this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 10-3 back in March.

Madelyn Hoppe made the most of her time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 2-for-4 with one home run.

This is the second loss in a row for D.C. Everest and nudges their season record down to 8-7. Admittedly, the team was facing some tough opposition over that stretch, including 8-2 Stevens Point (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 71.8% over those games). As for Neenah, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight games. That's provided a nice bump to their 7-4 record this season.

D.C. Everest didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next matchup, a 14-9 win against Pulaski on the 1st. As for Neenah, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next contest, a 6-3 loss against Stevens Point on the 1st.
