BRADENTON, Fla. - the Hurricanes scored 27 points in the second quarter to secure a big 47-0 victory over Riverview (Sarasota, Fla.) on Saturday.
Manatee scored on a
Trevon Walters touchdown run, a touchdown run by
Joshua Meyer, a Meyer touchdown pass to
Kelvin McKnight and a Walters touchdown run in the quarter.
After taking the lead on a
Brodrick Yancy touchdown run in the first quarter, MHS was up 34-0 at the half.
The Bradenton school expanded its lead to 41 points entering the fourth quarter. The Hurricanes' lone score in the quarter came on a
Marquel Hines touchdown run.
With the win Manatee extended its winning streak to six games. Manatee defeated Southeast 62-0 last week.
Manatee's standout player in the win was Walters. The senior running back ran for two touchdowns. He has now scored seven touchdowns on the season.
The Bradenton school went into the matchup giving up only 9.6 points per game.
Last season's game between the teams resulted in a 49-7 win for the Hurricanes.
The loss comes after Riverview defeated Lehigh 55-15 last week.
In a non-conference game next week Manatee (6-0) takes on Palmetto, and Riverview (2-2) will go up against Southeast also in a non-conference game.
