Volleyball Recap: Central Takes a Loss

Central lost against Newnan two weeks ago, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The Lions fell just short of the Cougars by a score of 2-1. The Lions' defeat signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.

In an exciting match in which no team claimed back-to-back wins, Central sadly wound up on the wrong side. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-20, 23-25, 16-14.

Despite the loss, Central saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Julianna Johnston had 15 digs and one assist. Those 15 digs set a new season-high mark for Johnston. Abby Kreft also deserves some recognition as she had her first block of the season.

Central's defeat dropped their record down to 18-6. As for Newnan, they pushed their record up to 16-6 with the win, which was their 14th straight at home dating back to last season.

Looking ahead, Central will take on Villa Rica in a tournament on Saturday. As for Newnan, they will take on Landmark Christian at 8:00 a.m. on Saturday.
