Recap: Franklin Lions vs. Westwood Panthers
The Franklin Lions entered their tilt with the Westwood Panthers with five consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with six. Franklin strolled past Westwood with points to spare on Friday, taking the game 72-53. The win was all the more spectacular given Franklin's disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 717th, while Westwood is ranked 329th).
Despite the loss, Westwood saw an underclassman step up: Kavian Bryant scored 36 points along with six rebounds. Another player making a difference was Shannon Jackson, who scored two points along with nine rebounds and two steals.
Franklin has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won ten of their last 11 games, which provided a nice bump to their 12-8 record this season. As for Westwood, their defeat dropped their record down to 22-7.
Franklin will head out on the road to take on Mexia at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Franklin has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 783 points over their last 11 matches. As for Westwood, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Teague at 6:15 p.m. on Tuesday. The timing is sure in Westwood's favor as the team sits on five straight wins at home while Teague has been banged up by three consecutive losses on the road.
