Volleyball Recap: Westerville South Wildcats vs. New Albany Eagles
After flying high against Thomas Worthington on Tuesday, Westerville South came back down to earth. The Wildcats fell just short of the New Albany Eagles by a score of 2-1 on Saturday. The Wildcats were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Eagles apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in August of 2021.
Westerville South actually scored more points across those three sets (70-64), but sadly they still had to settle for second. The final score came out to 26-24, 13-25, 25-21.
Their offense was headlined by Kendall McClure and Marlee Sharps, who picked up 11 kills apiece. They got some help from Janele MacClements and her 13 assists.
Leading New Albany to victory were Aline Bhat and Maisy Mathers. Bhat had 22 digs and one assist, while Mathers had 22 assists. Those 22 assists gave Mathers a new career-high.
