Softball Game Preview: Waynesfield-Goshen Tigers vs. Botkins Trojans

The Waynesfield-Goshen Tigers will head out on the road to square off against the Botkins Trojans at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. Waynesfield-Goshen is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.2 runs per game this season.

Waynesfield-Goshen fell victim to Elgin and their airtight pitching crew on Tuesday. They fell just short of the Comets by a score of 1-0. Having soared to a lofty ten runs in the game before, the Tigers' shutout was a dramatic turnaround.

Waynesfield-Goshen saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was S. Spillis, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base. Spillis is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last four games she's played. Makenna Shaw also deserves some recognition as she hit her first triple of the season.

Meanwhile, it may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Botkins ultimately got the result they hoped for on Tuesday. They walked away with a 7-3 win over Fairlawn. The Trojans haven't had any issues with the Jets recently, as the game was their third consecutive victory against them.

Botkins' win was their first in the conference, bumping their conference record up to 1-3 and their overall record up to 7-5. As for Waynesfield-Goshen, the loss snapped their winning streak at three games and leaves them with a 7-4 record.
