Recap: West Forsyth Titans vs. Davie War Eagles
It was a good run, but the West Forsyth Titans unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Tuesday. They took a 49-42 hit to the loss column at the hands of Davie. The contest was a 19-19 toss-up at halftime, but West Forsyth couldn't quite close it out.
Despite the loss, West Forsyth saw an underclassman step up: Brooklynn King scored 15 points along with two steals. Another player making a difference was Emma Staples, who scored 14 points.
West Forsyth struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only three offensive rebounds. That's the fewest offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
It was another big night for Peyton Spaugh, who scored 18 points along with six assists and six rebounds for Davie. It was the first time this season that Spaugh scored 15 or more points. Malayka Rankin was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with six rebounds.
West Forsyth's defeat dropped their record down to 11-8. As for Davie, they pushed their record up to 12-9 with that win, which was their third straight on the road.
West Forsyth will look to defend their home court on Friday against R.J. Reynolds at 6:30 p.m. Hopefully West Forsyth focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 27 on Tuesday. As for Davie, they will head out on the road to square off against Parkland at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Davie is facing Parkland at the right time seeing as Parkland is stuck on a four-game losing streak.
