Softball Recap: Mercy Takes a Loss

If Mercy was feeling good fresh off their 17-1 takedown of Harker on Monday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Bears fell 7-4 to the Lowell Cardinals on Wednesday. The Bears were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Cardinals apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in March of 2024.

Aveline Anderson was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-3 with one triple, one stolen base, and one run. She has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last four times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Andrea Martin, who went 1-for-2 with one run and one double.

Mercy's loss dropped their record down to 9-8. As for Lowell, the win was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 10-5.

Coming up, Mercy will head out on the road to challenge Mills at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. The Bears' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Vikings have averaged an impressive 8.3 runs per game this season. As for Lowell, they will look to defend their home field on Thursday against Washington at 3:30 p.m.
