Basketball Recap: Silverdale Academy Takes a Loss

If Silverdale Academy was riding high fresh off their 69-31 takedown of St. Andrews-Sewanee last Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Silverdale Academy Seahawks took a 60-44 bruising from the Notre Dame Fighting Irish on Thursday. The Seahawks have struggled against the Fighting Irish recently, as the game was their third consecutive lost matchup.

Despite the defeat, Silverdale Academy saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Parker Holland posted 13 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Tanner Bayne, who scored seven points.

It was another big night for Gaas Herman, who put up 25 points for Notre Dame. The matchup was Herman's 22nd in a row with at least 15 points. Another player making a difference was Cooper Campbell, who had 11 points.

Silverdale Academy's loss dropped their record down to 9-18. As for Notre Dame, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 14-14.

Coming up, Silverdale Academy won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Collegedale Academy at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Notre Dame, they will also get right back to it: they'll take on Boyd-Buchanan at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Boyd-Buchanan will roll in looking for their 13th straight win, something Notre Dame surely won't give up without a fight.
