Baseball Game Preview: Old Forge Blue Devils vs. Montrose Meteors

Old Forge is a perfect 3-0 against Montrose since April of 2019 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Saturday. The Blue Devils will look to defend their home field against the Meteors at 10:00 a.m.

Old Forge fell victim to Dunmore and their airtight pitching crew on Thursday. They lost 7-0 to the Bucks. The home team had taken home the W every time these teams have met since May 6, 2024, but that streak is no more.

Meanwhile, Montrose hadn't done well against Mountain View recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Monday. The Meteors won by a run and slipped past the Eagles 4-3.

Montrose's win was truly a team effort as six different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Kasey Carey, who went 1-for-2 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

Montrose has been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-4 record this season. As for Old Forge, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-9.

The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Saturday as neither team is afraid to steal. Old Forge has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.5 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Montrose struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 4.5 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.

Everything went Old Forge's way against Montrose when the teams last played back in May of 2025, as Old Forge made off with a 10-1 victory. Do the Blue Devils have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Meteors turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
