Basketball Recap: Kerr-Vance Academy Spartans vs. Fayetteville Academy Eagles
The Kerr-Vance Academy Spartans lost a heartbreaker when they last took the court, but unfortunately for them the loss they were handed on on Wednesday was a bit more commanding. They took a serious blow against Fayetteville Academy, falling 118-41. While losing is never fun, Kerr-Vance Academy can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 617th, while the Eagles are ranked 52nd).
Kerr-Vance Academy lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Zack Davis, who scored 19 points. Another player making a difference was Tim Hudson, who scored six points along with nine rebounds.
Fayetteville Academy's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Garek Dixon, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and 14 rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Dixon has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Jadyn Cooper, who scored 22 points along with four steals.
Kerr-Vance Academy has not been sharp recently as the team's lost seven of their last eight contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-17 record this season. As for Fayetteville Academy, they pushed their record up to 23-4 with that victory, which was their 14th straight at home dating back to last season.
Kerr-Vance Academy will take on the Crusaders at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Harrells Christian Academy's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last 11 games. As for Fayetteville Academy, they will head out on the road to square off against the Eagles at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Oakwood comes in still looking for their first win of the season.
