Baseball Recap: Bishop Foley Takes a Loss

If Bishop Foley was riding high fresh off their 10-0 takedown of Cabrini on Wednesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Ventures took a 13-8 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Gabriel Richard Fighting Irish on Thursday. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Ventures of the 3-0 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in May of 2024.

Tad Dobek was cooking despite his team's loss, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. Cooper Dolot was another key player, getting on base in two of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases and two runs.

Bishop Foley has been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 7-7 record this season. As for Gabriel Richard, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 12-20.

Coming up, Bishop Foley will venture away from home to face off against Lake Shore at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. As for Gabriel Richard, they will host Cardinal Mooney Catholic at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. The Cardinals' pitching crew has only allowed 3.1 runs per game this season, so the Fighting Irish's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
