League recap: Hammond overpowering for Windsor in past week

4A Tri-Valley league recap: 4/3/13

Garrett Hammond was the top pitcher in 4A Tri-Valley this week, leading Windsor. He picked up one win and 13 strikeouts.

Top honors in the league this week go to the Wizards, which finished with four wins overall, good for best in the league. Windsor beat Fort Lupton 17-6, Frederick 14-4, the Warriors 3-2 and Mead 5-4.

Even after stealing 14 bases to lead the league over the past week, Frederick is still looking up at Skyline, which ranks No. 1 in steals, with 31 on the year.

Windsor scored 43 runs this week to lead the league, but the Falcons are tops in runs scored this year, with 78.

There were 19 hitters that batted over .400 in the league this week. The group was paced by Austin Bending, who collected four hits in five at bats for a .800 average.

David Watson led the league with 11 hits this week for Windsor. His 16 hits for the year are first in the league, and he boasts a .471 batting average.



Mason Reinick struck out nine in Roosevelt's 6-2 win over the Maverick on March 30. Over seven innings of work, he gave up two hits and two runs.

Tyler Shubert was an RBI machine on Saturday, as he knocked in four runs during the Wizards' 14-4 win over the Warriors. He went 3-for-5 and scored one run.
